Thirteen Observations made by Lemony Snicket while... →

If you work hard, and become successful, it does not necessarily mean you are successful because you worked hard, just as if you are tall with long hair it doesn’t mean you would be a midget if you were bald. 2. “Fortune” is a word for having a lot of money and for having a lot of luck, but…

Lit Review: Black bears and minivans in Yosemite
(Source article: Stewart W. Breck, Nathan Lance and Victoria Seher (2009) Selective Foraging for Anthropogenic Resources by Black Bears: Minivans in Yosemite National Park. Journal of Mammalogy: October 2009, Vol. 90, No. 5, pp. 1041-1044. Available for free at USDA.gov) Alternate title: children are bear bait (just as we’ve always known). It turns out you shouldn’t drive a minivan into...

Improbable Research: The IgNobel Prize →
The IgNobel Prize is a truly wonderful thing. These are hilarious. A wasabi alarm? Structured procrastination? Beetles trying to get it on with beer bottles? And poor decision making when one has to take a leak? This is wonderful, wonderful stuff.

Sob.
If I ever, ever, EVER have a relationship with a man like the one between Amy and Rory, I will count myself beyond lucky. Also, I think “The Girl Who Waited” just broke me.

A Google a day.... →
This is brilliant. After the shocking news that 90% of Americans don’t know how to use Ctrl+F, this is a way to help people learn how to effectively use search engines, and to learn cool factoids along the way. And it uses a Google that omits all spoilers to the game. Very, very cool.

They Might Be Giants covers Chumbawamba | Video |... →
This is epicly awesome. For the record, I’m a bit obsessed with TMBG. There was a time when you could play me the first note of the Intro to Flood, and I could sing the whole album, key changes and all. It was the first album I ever wanted for myself. And, for some very strange reason, I adore this song.
